  • What is SCCL?

    The Southeastern Clubs Champions League was formed in 2018 by clubs searching for a better way to offer youth soccer programming for the serious player. The Southeastern Clubs Champions League is a top flight league formed by major clubs across the Southeast under the auspices of US Club Soccer with high level competition and exposure.



  • Who can participate in SCCL?

    SCCL is offered to boys and girls teams, ages u12-u19. Teams are not allowed to “play up” in any age group. In some cases, they will have a U11 division.



  • Who is eligible to play in SCCL?

    Player participation is limited to age eligible youth players.

    • All players must be registered with US Club Soccer.
    • Players are registered with only one club and may not participate with any other club for league play. Guest players, defined as players from an outside club, are NOT permitted in any divisions of SCCL league play.
    • Players are permitted to play with any age-appropriate team from within their own club. 


  • What are the levels teams can compete in SCCL?

    The levels of leagues are as follows 

    • Champions league- top level 
    • Premiere 1- Second level 
    • Premiere 2- third level 
    • Premiere 3- fourth level 
    • Premiere 4- fifth level 


  • Who determines which level each team participates in?

    The Club coaches and admin will decide which level each team will play and will present that to the SCCL board. Now all submitted levels will be approved by SCCL.

  • When does the schedule come out each season?

    Schedules for SCCL League play are created by the League using the dates agreed upon by the SCCL league member clubs. Field locations and times are provided by SCCL member clubs and provided to the League Director prior to the published seasonal deadline. *Schedules for fall 2024 will be released in early August of 2024.



  • How long is the SCCL season?

    Roughly 3 months. There are designated start and stop dates set by league officials. 



  • How many games total are in a season?

    The amount of games is dependent on how many teams are in your league. The amount of games range from 8-12 per season. 



  • How many home games are in a season

    Around half of your season games are home games.

  • What locations do teams travel to for games?

    Birmingham, Columbus, and Atlanta area

  • Is there a championship (end of season tournament) at the end of each season?

    Yes, there is a SCCL Jr. Cup offered at the end spring season and at the beginning of the Fall season. The SCCL Cup is part of US Club Soccer’s National Cup Event Series.  SCCL Cup Champions from the top division qualify to 2025 National Cup XXIV Finals.   Teams who do not earn the automatic birth to National Cup Finals have the opportunity to play in the National Cup Southeast Regional in North Carolina for another opportunity to make it to the national Finals.  Details for National Cup Finals and the Southeast Regional will be released in August of 2024.



  • Can teams still compete in Alabama State Cup?

    Yes, we will keep our affiliation with the State of Alabama that will allow our teams to register and play in the Alabama State Cup in November (U14 B Division & up) and May (U13 + U14A division & under).



  • What is the substitution rule for SCCL?

    Unlimited substitutions at all age groups and all levels.

  • What are the SCCL uniform requirements?

    Home teams will wear LIGHT uniforms. Away teams will wear DARK uniforms.

    The Goalkeeper is permitted to wear a tracksuit or similar trousers and leggings, or other type of clothing in all League sanctioned events. The Goalkeeper is also permitted to wear a FIFA

    approved vinyl foam soft soccer helmet.

    Team Captain(s) may wear an armband for identification purposes, which is to be displayed on the arm.

  • What is the game length for each age group?

    9v9 games are comprised of two 30-minute halves and a 5-minute half time. 

    • 13U-14U games are comprised of two 35-minute halves and a 10-minute half time.
    • 15U-16U games are comprised of two 40-minute halves and a 10-minute half time.
    • 17U-19U games are comprised of two 45-minute halves and a 10-minute half time


  • What are the promotion and relegation rules for SCCL?

    There will be promotion and relegation across all divisions (Champions League and Premier levels)  in an age group. In divisions of more than eight teams, two teams will be promoted, and two teams will be relegated each season. In groups of eight or less, there will be only one team promoted and one team relegated each season. The SCCL Board of Directors reserve the right to adjust and ensure appropriately competitive divisions.

    • For 13U - 14U there are two seasons/year --- fall and spring. Promotion and Relegation will occur between the two seasons. 
    • For 15U and older, the fall season is the only official season of the year.


  • What are the recruiting SCCL guidelines?

    The date that players and coaches may have first contact with each other is May 1st of each year.

    • A fine of $250 will be assessed to the club where training and/or communication with a registered player of another club prior to May 1st is reported and verified by the SCCL. 
    • A five-game suspension will be assessed to any player who trains with another club’s team without written permission of his/her coach of record.


  • Who covers referee fees?

    The HOME team will be responsible for assigning and paying the FULL referee fee for SCCL matches throughout the SCCL season - rates are set by each home club working with their referee assignor.
